Who is Mark?
Mark Rodriguez was born and raised in Miami, Florida to Cuban immigrants Marko and Lupe. At the age of eight, Mark attended a Christian Church service with his grandmother. After only a few visits to this new style of church, his parents forbade him from going back because they claimed he was getting confused. After a few weeks of not going to church, he remembered that the pastor mentioned from the pulpit that if anyone needed a ride to church, they should call the office and the church would arrange a pick-up. So that’s precisely what he did. The following Sunday, the church bus picked him up. Shortly thereafter, Mark led his entire family to Christ.
Along with his father Marko, a former drug dealer and a well-known character from the Miami scene, Mark would visit downtown Miami every weekend, feeding the homeless and preaching the message of Jesus. It was at the young age of 10 that he would feel the call to ministry that would mark his path for decades to come.
Mark is currently the Executive Pastor at Calvary Fellowship. Before serving at Calvary, Mark was the Marketing Director for a Fortune 500 company and later owned and operated his own advertising firm. Along with his love for marketing and design is a passion for music. Mark was the lead singer of a popular independent Christian band for six years, with whom he recorded three albums and shared the stage with some of the top Christian bands in the nation. In 2002, Mark took a leap of faith and walked away from his business and band to follow God’s plan for his life and joined Bob Franquiz as he was planting Calvary Fellowship.
Mark has a huge burden to see those that don’t know the saving power of Jesus find the life that they were created to live. His dynamic style of preaching connects with audiences of all ages and walks of life. Pastor Mark still lives in Miami and is married to his high school sweetheart Leilani, with whom he has three beautiful kids: Kaleb, Joshua, and Stella, along with a French Bulldog named Lola.
From the age of 8 to 21 Mark and his father fed and preached to the homeless community in Miami. During those 13 years of ministry, hundreds of people gave their lives to Christ, and many were set free from many addictions. One of Mark’s favorite stories of his times preaching in the streets was when he was in Brooklyn and was stopped by a man that told him that he was once homeless in Miami and thanks to him and his dad he was now a pastor and the director of a drug rehab in the city.
